We are a small village primary school at the very centre of the village of Loddiswell located close to Kingsbridge in Devon.
Children of all abilities experience success and each pupil is encouraged to achieve the highest possible standard of work and personal satisfaction. As a small school, there are close and caring relationships between all age groups.
We aim to provide a friendly and supportive learning environment that enables all of our children to become independent resourceful learners for life. We work hard to ensure that all of our children receive highly positive, memorable experiences and rich opportunities for high quality learning that will stay with the children for life. We are all part of the “Loddiswell School Family” and we are all aiming to be “The best we can be – in pursuit of excellence”.
Through our exciting curriculum we aim to inspire our children to gain independent learning skills for life – and to always be “kind, safe and responsible” in behaviour and learning.
Our facilities include fully equipped classrooms containing class libraries, play and climbing equipment, a hall for P.E. assemblies and performances, on site kitchen, sports field, and a covered area for outside play for our smallest children.
All classrooms have interactive whiteboards and access to state of the art ICT equipment.
Disabled access is not an issue, with all classrooms on the level. We have a large hard-surface playground providing plenty of space for everyone to learn and have fun.
We pride ourselves on the close and strong partnership we have with our local community. The school is at the heart of the village and we encourage the children to appreciate their surroundings. Parents, local residents and other community members are regularly invited to come into school to share their skills, knowledge and talents with the children in order to enrich the curriculum and experiences provided for all of the children.
All staff have consistently high expectations of all children; who in turn benefit from the wide and varied expertise provided throughout the school. Staff work hard to develop imaginative teaching strategies and to involve parents and members the local community, in order to develop meaningful real life applications of skills learnt.
We have four class groups:
– Class 1 – Foundation Stage and Year 1
– Class 2 – Year 2
– Class 3 – Year 3 and Year 4
– Class 4 – Year 5 and Year 6
We have experienced Teaching Assistants who support the teaching and learning throughout the school, and who deliver short-term intervention programs for individual children, when needed.
