The children in Reception particularly enjoyed getting their hands messy this week and have produced some very realistic elephant artwork.
The very generous Open the Book group from the Congregational Church have donated a lovely book to the school. It is full of gorgeous colour illustrations and contains Bible stories set in rhyme. The group would usually come into school in December to perform a story which of course is impossible at the moment so it is very kind of them to think of an alternative way to help.
When it is cold and wet outside we have to play Netball in the hall!
All of the children in Class 1 were recently given a free book from the Book Trust. We hope this gift will spark the children’s imagination.
We were unable to hold our normal coffee morning. Instead, last Friday, we held a “Bubble Bake Off”. Every child had the opportunity to decorate a cupcake and then eat their handiwork! As you can see from the photos, the results were extremely imaginative. The whole afternoons endeavour raised an incredible £92.70 which will be sent to this very worthwhile charity.
We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back on 7th September 2020 and we’re working hard to make the school a safe, enjoyable environment. We believe that returning to school is vital for all children for their education, mental health and wellbeing. We are currently implementing a system of controls outlined by the Department of Education to reduce the risk of transmission of the coronavirus so we can ensure a safe return to school for everyone.
Further details can be found via the letter sent to all Parents and Carers on 15th July along with the Information Sheet.

On the day your child has Forest School they should come to school dressed in their Forest School clothes, they will need to wear normal shoes and bring their waterproofs and wellington boots in a separate bag.
Children should only bring to school each day their Book Bag, Coat, Named water bottle and packed lunch if your child is having a packed lunch. Years 3 – 6 will need a healthy mid-morning snack (fruit) for your child but Key Stage 1 are provided with a snack. All items will remain with the children in their classroom.

Following the Government’s announcement regarding the closure of schools for all children with the exception of “vulnerable” children and the children of key sector workers, Loddiswell Primary School is partially closed. Please only send your child to school if you have absolutely no alternative option for childcare as the safest place for them is at home.
Our opening times for vulnerable and the children of key sector workers are 9.00am – 3.30pm
If your child does attend school they will need to bring a packed lunch to school as there will be no catering service on site.
We had a visit on Thursday from Dr Juliette Jackson from Sea Dream Education. She held a whole school assembly holding a lively discussion on climate change and global warming and then Class 2 and Class 4 had more in depth workshops on renewable energy.
We had an exciting delivery this week of a new dining table that our PTFA have very kindly purchased for us. Thank you very much!
