Re-opening of Loddiswell Preschool
We have been working to ensure a safe return to preschool for a reduced number of children from 1st June 2020 (subject to satisfactory risk assessment outcomes).
We will also continue to welcome keyworker and ‘vulnerable’ children to pre-school. Government advice regarding social distancing and hygiene rules will be stringently followed at all times.
Although we will be welcoming some of our children back, the reality is that normal pre-school life is still a long way off right now. The structure of the pre-school day, and indeed teaching methods, will not be “normal” due to social distancing measures.
We will only be able to accommodate a small number of children and may need to prioritise key worker families should demand exceed our capacity.
If you are a keyworker or have vulnerable children, your child may have been attending preschool for some time and they will be able to continue to do so but back in the Pavilion at Loddiswell Playing fields.
It is important to note that clinically vulnerable or shielded children should not attend Pre-school, and those children who live with someone who is medically certified as clinically extremely vulnerable should only attend if stringent social distancing can be adhered to on returning to the home. Children who live with someone who is clinically vulnerable (but not clinically extremely vulnerable), may attend Preschool.
As you may expect Preschool will be following government guidance in order to keep all children and staff as safe as possible. This will mean a different structure to our normal preschool day with limited numbers of children plus a reduced number of toys and activities available. Parents will not be able to enter the building and will be given a time to drop off and pick up each day. We also ask that only one parent accompanies their child to drop off/ pick up.
Handwashing will be central to the pre-school day as it was in the period before lockdown.
All children will need to ensure that they wear a clean set of clothes each day. At the end of the school day, all clothes worn by children and staff will need to be removed and washed when they get home to prevent possible carrying of infection into the home.
We have created an isolation area should anyone be taken ill during the course of the day and will follow the current guidance on distancing and cleaning this area after use.
If you would like your child to return, can you please email our Administrator to confirm your child would like their place and which days you would like them to attend? We will try to accommodate as many requests as possible within the government guidelines and the changes to keep us all safe.
Please rest assured the health and safety of the children and staff is paramount. We have worked hard to put systems and processes in place to ensure our school is as safe and engaging for the children as possible under the current guidance and legislation. We have also revised our Behaviour Policy.
We have created an Information Sheet for those returning to Preschool which hopefully includes all the details you will need but if you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Loddiswell Primary School issue a newsletter every Friday and any preschool news will be included in there. Please see the latest newsletters with preschool information below but for all newsletters, please click here.
